DJI SDR Transmission 2 Combo
A wedding crew spread across a banquet hall, a director watching three cameras from a monitor cart, a focus puller who needs a clean image and not a stuttering one. The DJI SDR Transmission 2 Combo is built for exactly that kind of set. It ships with two identical transceivers, and each one can work as a transmitter (TX) or a receiver (RX), so one kit covers the camera end and the monitor end with nothing else to buy.
The biggest change from the first DJI SDR Transmission is image quality. Generation 1 topped out at 1080p60. This version sends DCI 4K at 60fps in 10-bit HDR, encoded in H.265 at up to 50 Mbps, with latency as low as 35 ms. Rated range goes up to 4 km (CE, open line of sight), and the tri-band system hops between 2.4 GHz, 5.1 GHz, 5.8 GHz and DFS channels using Auto Channel 2.0 to stay clear of crowded frequencies.
One transmitter can feed up to eight receivers, and several groups can run on the same set, so the director, the client and the colourist can all watch the same camera on their own screens. DJI recommends up to five cameras on one site. You can also watch on a phone or tablet: plug it into a receiver by USB-C and the feed arrives over SDR, not Wi-Fi, through the DJI Ronin app, which also loads your own LUTs.
Each transceiver weighs about 136 g with antennas and measures 76 x 61 x 25 mm. Power comes from a USB-C PD adapter (65 W or higher), a 6.8 to 17.5 V DC source, or an NP-F battery using the included battery adapter. On a DJI RS 5, RS 4 Pro, RS 4 or RS 3 Pro, the transceiver can draw power from the gimbal and give wireless gimbal control from the Ronin app, including Force Mobile and a virtual joystick.
